STARS Golf Society: Connecting Golfers in the Technology Industry
Join us at golf events that promote networking across the technology industry and support important charity initiatives.

Join us at golf events that promote networking across the technology industry and support important charity initiatives.

The STARS Golf Society was established to unite golfers across the entire technology industry - with the name representing Software, Technology, Analytics, Recruitment, and Services (including the technology/management consulting, media, and channel/reseller sectors too).
Our mission is to foster a professional but informal atmosphere for networking, where professionals can connect through golf events, engage in friendly competition, have some fun, and support charity initiatives along the way.
We are looking for more sponsors, get in touch directly if you would li

We look for venues that make it inclusive for golfers of all playing abilities. Our goal is to find locations that attract all types of golfers, within easy reach for most, and offering a suitable challenge without adding to the difficulties of the game we love. We also aim to book venues that provide excellent networking opportunities within the technology industry, ensuring that even if you are having a bad day at the office, you can enjoy a pleasant walk on the course!

OK, it had to happen, we finally had some rain for one of our events.
That said, it could have been worse, and 36 brave souls turned up ready to play.
The Worplesdon course had clearly had drought issues this year, like most, but the tees, greens and bunkers (and yes, we checked a fair few of them) were all pristine.
We had more new faces join us on the day, including some that we had not seen for 15 years or so - everyone was upbeat despite the weather, conversation was flowing and we all headed out in full wet weather gear.
Thank you to all the businesses that offered support for us at this event - DLL, Rigby Capital, Live Story and Qlik - your support is, as always, invaluable to us.
Scores were a little lower than average, the weather definitely had an effect. Freddie Wilson (Contentful) took 1st Place in the Singles event, on count back, and without even playing the last hole as he needed to be on a call. Mark Roy (ex-REaD Group) and Mark Dawson (ex-Microsoft/BAT) joined him on the podium in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Jeremy Straker (Amplience), Ben Field-Johnson (Contentful), Stuart Hobbs (Live Story) and Duncan Paterson (KPS) won the Team Event, scoring 83 points to win by 2. David Beaumont (Algolia) won the Nearest the Pin on the 10th hole, and Stuart Hobbs (Live Story) won the Longest Drive on the 18th hole.
Another great day out, we will be back at Worplesdon at some stage.
THANK YOU!!! On the back of impressive amounts raised at previous events you all helped contribute once again. We have managed to raise c£2350 (net of prize costs/fees) for Alzheimer's Society, taking our fundraising efforts in 2026 to £17k.
Congratulations to all of the silent auction winners below:
Dale Archer (WPP ES)
Stewart Kirby (Solve Sparks)
Mark Thompson (DLL)
Garrett Cotter (RBC)
Duncan Paterson (KPS)
Thank you for all your donations and bids, and thank you to those who sourced the prizes - several golf clubs sent 4-ball vouchers directly, and thanks to Simon Phillips (Differentia Consulting) and Mark Thompson (DLL) for sourcing vouchers for us too.
We are always looking for more prizes, so do reach out if you can help.

A new competition for 2026 - to be awarded to the player with the best 3-score total for the year.
We have now named this award The Cotter Cup, in honour of Ken Cotter (centre) who sadly passed away recently.
Ken was an instrumental part of the STARS Golf Society and he was involved from the very start in 2024. He was able to support with some initial funding, and has since brought along colleagues and partners of his company DLL, introduced us to other sponsors & supporters, and regularly promoted the society for us - in person and on social media.
Without Ken we would not be where we are now, and words cannot express our gratitude
