STARS Golf Society: Connecting Golfers in the Technology Industry
Join us at golf events that promote networking across the technology industry and support important charity initiatives.

Join us at golf events that promote networking across the technology industry and support important charity initiatives.

The STARS Golf Society was established to unite golfers across the entire technology industry - with the name representing Software, Technology, Analytics, Recruitment, and Services (including the technology/management consulting, media, and channel/reseller sectors too).
Our mission is to foster a professional but informal atmosphere for networking, where professionals can connect through golf events, engage in friendly competition, have some fun, and support charity initiatives along the way.

We look for venues that make it inclusive for golfers of all playing abilities. Our goal is to find locations that attract all types of golfers, within easy reach for most, and offering a suitable challenge without adding to the difficulties of the game we love. We also aim to book venues that provide excellent networking opportunities within the technology industry, ensuring that even if you are having a bad day at the office, you can enjoy a pleasant walk on the course!

OK, this is getting silly now..... "We have been so lucky with weather and our most recent event was no different" - 33 degrees and blazing sunshine, AGAIN!!!!
The Beaconsfield course was still green in places, the recent heatwaves have taken their toll, but the course was in fantastic condition nonetheless.
We had more new faces yet again, plus a good number of regular attendees making sure they settled in nicely. Simon Everidge (Rigby Capital) supplied a driver (if you can call it that) for us to use for a Longest Drive competition on the 1st hole, and that started the day off with a bit of trepidation and humour.
There were players travelling from various parts of the UK, and in all 28 players graced us with their presence and braved the temperatures - we are grateful to all those that made the effort.
Thank you to all the businesses that offered support for us at this event - DLL, Rigby Capital, Live Story and Qlik - your support is, as always, invaluable to us.
One of our new attendees Rob Thomas (Hibob) took 1st Place in the Singles event, with Stewart Kirby (Solve Sparks) and Conor Doyle (DQ Global) also getting on the podium. Robert Botha (Adobe), Gareth McNeill (Resourgenix), Stewart Kirby (Solve Sparks) and Ron Kirby (Stewart's Dad!) won the Team Event, scoring 93 points to win by 3. Martin Hucker (Innovative Systems) won the Nearest the Pin on the 7th hole, and Howard Holland (Softcat) won both Longest Drive prizes (on the 1st & 14th holes) with a couple of very impressive drives (he definitely had his Weetabix in the morning)
Another memorable day for some fun in the sun, and a mixture of golfing skills on display - we will be back at Beaconsfield in 2027!
Give yourselves a pat on the back!
On the back of impressive amounts raised at previous events you all helped contribute once again. We have managed to raise c£1650 (net of prize costs/fees) for Prostate Cancer UK.
Congratulations to all of the silent auction winners below:
Gareth McNeill (Resourgenix)
Anthony Gavin (Zipline)
Guy Dobson (Adobe)
Howard Dudley (DLL)
Thank you for all your donations and bids, and thank you to those who sourced the prizes - several golf clubs sent 4-ball vouchers directly, and thanks to Simon Phillips (Differentia Consulting) for sourcing one from his club too.
We are always looking for more prizes, so do reach out if you can help.

A new competition for 2026 - to be awarded to the player with the best 3-score total for the year
To be re-named shortly in honour of Ken Cotter (centre) who sadly passed away recently.
Ken was an instrumental part of the STARS Golf Society and he was involved from the very start in 2024. He was able to support with some initial funding, and has since brought along colleagues and partners of his company DLL, introduced us to other sponsors/supporters, and regularly promoted the society for us - in person and on social media.
Without Ken we would not be where we are now, and words cannot express our gratitude
